James Varon has been named Vice President of Engineering for all GAL locations, including New York, Quincy, Toronto, and Asia. He will be responsible for all aspects of engineering, such as research & development, new product introductions, and contract engineering.

“James has played a crucial part in GAL’s engineering activities since joining the company some 37 years ago, and I am delighted to be able to confirm that his talents will now benefit all our operations going forward,” commented Mark Boelhouwer, President & CEO.

Varon,57, arrived at GAL in 1980 as a Mechanical Draftsman, designing new and improved elevator door equipment systems. He became Door Equipment Engineering Manager in 1985, then Engineering Manager in 2000, before progressing on to the position of Vice President of Engineering at GAL in 2014.

GAL provides the elevator industry with a broad spectrum of products and services, including door equipment, control systems and hoistway machines.
