Interlift 201716 - 19 October 2017 / Messe Augsburg / Germany

The Messe Augsburg is best equipped for the growth of the interlift trade show / Action in the international lift markets has generated additional interest in the world's leading trade show for the lift industry

Augsburg – The organiser of interlift, AFAG, is counting on the strong continued growth of this top international exhibit. At the upcoming interlift 2017, plans will therefore include use of the Cube and one additional temporary exhibition hall, the Pavilion. It will be integrated in the visitor circuit through a single connecting passage originating in Hall 3. Starting in 2019, the new and significantly larger Hall 2 will become available. This is scheduled for the next expansion phase of the Messe Augsburg's master plan, which has been consistently followed for the past six years.

Hall 6, which is being used by exhibitors for the first time, also offers expanded floor space. In 2017, approximately 1,500 m2 will be additionally available to our exhibitors. This is thanks to the fact that the interlift's Exhibitor Evening party is being moved to the WWK Arena, home of the Bundesliga FC Augsburg team, located in close vicinity. This solution proved to work ideally for GrindTec 2016, another AFAG trade show of comparable size. Last March, about 600 guests spent a very enjoyable evening in the stadium's exclusive business area. Shuttle buses will also provide fast and comfortable transportation to the exhibit hall during interlift.

Growing interest from Turkish component manufacturers

With 42 member companies at last count, Turkey ranks in 4th place – after Germany, Italy and China. At the interlift 2017, the number of Turkish exhibitors is expected to grow. The reasons for this are clear. First, with the loss of Russia, Turkish component manufacturers have lost their most important export market almost overnight. Some manufacturers see the upcoming interlift as the best platform to develop new international sales channels. Another positive aspect in this regard is the likelihood of visa-free entry of Turkish citizens into Germany in time for interlift 2017 – this is something that was a massive handicap until now, preventing many interested parties from visiting our trade show.

The state of the industry has not been made easier by the trade fair landscape in Turkey, which is becoming more complicated. In the meantime, three lift trade shows - and the organisations operating behind them - are trying to entice exhibitors and members.

The new lift trade shows in Cairo and Dubai are also becoming a problem for the shows in Istanbul and Izmir. Visitors from the Arab region, who had placed their orders at the Turkish trade shows until now, will be placing orders at their own trade events in the future. The exhibitions in Turkey are losing additional important target groups as a result.

Gaining ground: the Near and Middle East

The global lift industry is offering enticing prospects to the Near and Middle East. In fact, those knowledgeable of conditions in this region see realistic opportunities for growth, due to the rapid development in large cities in this area. Even more satisfying is the growing interest that organisers and organisations from this region have shown in the interlift leading international trade show, as confirmed by a number of meetings with responsible parties in the past few months. In particular, the meetings dealt with the organisation of visitor delegations to Augsburg. For one or another lift company, their presence at interlift could also be of interest.
