As a Vertical Transportation Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert for planning, executing, evaluating, and improving the vertical transportation program of the region which includes Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides guidance, direction and oversight to all regional property and project managers regarding Vertical Transportation (VT) program issues. Acts as the Authority Having Jurisdiction for the regional elevator program. Establishes new regional operating processes and procedures for the VT program in accordance with national program requirements to enhance the overall effective operation and maintenance of VT equipment. Establishes regional fire and safety standards for vertical transportation in the region in concurrence with Safety staff.
• Prepares, reviews and approves scopes of work, drawings, specifications and other work involved in VT projects and/or for VT equipment.
• Prepares cost estimates, assists in securing bids and selecting contractors on VT related procurements. Ensures that contractors perform appropriate work at job sites as required.
• Ensures the region has an accurate and complete VT inspection program that complies with all applicable regulations and statutes. Ensures VT inspections are completed and documented as required by regulation, statute and PBS policy. Review, approve and accept inspection reports provided by the inspection contractor for vertical transportation inventory located within the region. Provide onsite review of inspections for accuracy as needed throughout the regions inventory.
• Directs and manages modernization and new construction projects as the agencies primary POC/technical adviser and Authority Having Jurisdiction for the regions Vertical Transportation Program.
• Administers VT program service contracts in accordance with national program policies and standards. Functions as program manager and provides planning, budgeting, and oversight of all facets of the contracts.
• Reviews and approves technical reports and/or papers on sensitive and complex matters that influence broader policies and programs impacting the region. Accountable for the technical accuracy and implementation of installation, maintenance, and safety policies as they pertain to the VT program. Holds elevator inspectors’ credential as a certified QEI-Qualified Elevator Inspector and serves as the Authority Having Jurisdiction for the region.
