CET™ Program Definitions

CET Candidate—a student in the CET program who has met all of the application requirements and has been accepted in the program.

AET™ = Associated Elevator Technician—an individual who has met all of the application requirements and has successfully completed all course requirements of the CET Level 1 Core Curriculum and has passed all unit exam and the required Level 1 exam.

CET™ = Certified Elevator Technician—an individual who has met all of the application requirements of the NAEC CET program and either successfully completed all course requirements of the CET Level 1 Core Curriculum and Level 2 Advanced Curriculum, all skill assessments and passed all unit and level exams or has been approved by the Certification Board and successfully passed the required grandparent exam.

CET-MR = CET Maintenance and Repair—a CET who has successfully completed all curriculum and exams for the CET Candidate program and has successfully completed all skills verifications for courses dealing with maintenance and repair; Courses 1,3,4,5,6,8,9 and 10.

CET-MC = CET Modernization and Construction—a CET who has successfully completed all curriculum and exams for the CET Candidate program and has successfully completed all skills verifications for courses dealing with modernization and construction; Courses 1,2 4,5,6,7,8 and 9.

CET-E = CET Escalator— a CET who has successfully completed all curriculum and exams for the CET Candidate program and has successfully completed all skills verifications for courses dealing with escalators; Courses 1,4,5,6,8,9, and 11.

CET-S = CET Supervisor—a CET who has successfully completed the NAEC CET Supervisor Training Course.
